    hello everyone I

This is my problem I have a v one ps2 and my laser is not moveing at all even if I manually push it against the switch by the spindal I have tryed replacing everything in the cd tray but the same thing the light comes on but the laser does not move back and forth as it should it started working once and I knew it right away it would go down and hit the switch and set its self but only worked for about a minute and stoped.I do not think any fuses are blown for that reason any ideas would help greatly.

    thanks

No matter how worn your laser may be, you should still get movement out of it. In this I mean that the laser gets sequenced prior to it reading or focusing the disk.
The laser head should move to towards the spindle, contact the limit switch, then reverse approximately half an inch away from the spindle, then it should start its focusing sequence and determining what media has been inserted. i.e. DVD or CD
I'd say your problem has to do with this initial sequencing, therefore suspect the BA controller chip (BA5815FM), but the part number on your V1 may be different. I've never seen a version 1 PS2, so I couldn't tell you. Sorry about that.
Also, there may be a chance that your sled motor may be shot, or its connector and/or ribbon cable may be damaged. You need to check this first.
    Best of luck!!!
