no eject light, no video/sound (messiah2)
no eject light, no video/sound (messiah2) –
Ok I know i've read about this before but i can't quite find the answer to what i'm looking for. I've installed several dozen messiah2's in v7 (gh-022) machines and 1 or 2 have done this to me (reset works, eject does not, no video or sound, no disc spin). I chalked it up to bad install and had a friend return for a new console. Recently I read that it is the ps14 fuse blowing because something is shorting on the chip (diode?). So I replace the ps14, reassemble, works for 5 mins...then dies.. I check the ps14 fuse..sure enough, its blown again. I start thinking maybe the messiah2 was fried by my previous fuse problem, so i swap out the chip for a brand new messiah. Replace the fuse and try again...still nothing. and sure enough.. fuse is blown yet again.
Why do these fuses keep blowing? maybe i should try replacing then installing a different chip? (magic/dms3 etc). Or is this board hosed? Heh i'm running out of fuses so i'll wait to see if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks to all here who give advice..its proven invaluable.
Same problem here –
So far I have had two version 7 consoles not accept mod chip correctly.
One is a GH-022 and the other is a GH-019, both are considered version 7.
Standby red light illuminates when console is switched from main power in rear.
Blue eject light does not flash or light up solid at all anymore and the disc tray fails to eject when switch is pressed.
I checked all visable fuses but nothing seems to be wrong.
Anyone have any helpful advise or solutions?
maybe the BA5 chip is blown, but I wouldn't know, I am sure Charlie_ps2 will role around into this post to fix most of your problems
Solderless Mods and Flip tops are like tampons, every pussy needs one!
you did check ps14? every time i've had this issue it has been the culprit..im just trying to figure out how to get it working again *after* i replace the fuse... i keep blowin em.
i have the same issue and believe that the messiah 2 chip is the culprit. Trying switching it with the magic 3 and replace fuse ps14. it should work. Well....it should kinda work. My ps2 has controller and sound problem after that now. Don't know what other fuses could be the problem.
darkside..i have several of these sitting on my table right now. they all seemed to happen at once, the other thing im curious about: are these messiahs fried now? or can i attempt to use them in other machines? I do actually plan on stickin magics in the ones that i replaced fuses on..im tired of doing this over and over...
i'm guessing it's fried knowing that you tried it with several machines. I think i have one too doing a stunt like you thinking that the messiah 2 is better than the magic 3. It seems to blow the same fuses everytime. You might wanna check the ps7 along with the fuse.
I had a magic 3 earlier and it was working fine. I switched it with a messiah 2, only add 4 wires and no bridges whatsoever and it killed the exact same fuse. I have the same board as you GH-019 and GH-022. I'm pretty sure your BA chip is fine.
hm. Ok that makes sense...now im just wondering if the chip is fried because I shorted something? Like when i blew the fuse the chip got fried at the same time? I kinda doubt that this batch of chips is all bad. I did notice something however, the 4 chips that were giving me this issue had a different resistance on the resistor at the top of the chip than the one chip i hadnt used yet. (150k ohm instead of 75k ohm on the unused chip). Dunno if this means anything..i'd be relieved if all i had to do was replace that resistor..but then again i don't know shit so i might be lookin at this the wrong way.
it's very unlike that the chip got fried on bad connections. I shouldn't use the word fried. that might of confused you. It's more like a bad chip with a bad flash or something. I don't know much about that chip itself. As far as the resistor goes, i'm not sure about that either. Might wanna get someone else.
what's weird is...i installed m2, partially assembled..tested= no eject/video. i took apart, replaced fuse, reassembled, tested=booted backups/originals, i get up to go type an email...10 secs later the screen cuts out and system switches off..then it goes back to no eject/video..check fuse and its blown. im just puzzled...
