No DVD-R with messiah Chip on V4 PS2

I installed a messiah chip in a v4 EUR PS2 but can't dvd-r to play.
the installation went well, the ps2 plays all psx games including cdr's and original ps2 dvd games, but when i try to play a dvd-r or a dvd movie nothing happens.

what could be wrong?
whitch wires should i check?

I'd also appreciate any answers on this thread, since I'm getting ready to put a messiah2pro in a v4 ntsc, and wouldn't mind knowing what I'm up against.

Maybe the laser needs adjusting or even cleaning. That often is all that's needed for DVD-R. DVD-movie - are you booting correctly - double tap Reset?
