No DVD Driver installed?
I posted this a few weeks ago, but its back to haunt me.
I installed a magic 3.1 for a guy (he supplied the chip) in a V7, Worked fine, but then he said he go disk errors etc. So I took the Magic 3.1 out and put in a messiah2. While checking to see if everything loaded up OK, I found that DVD movies came up with "dvd player not setup" when inserted. I said that to the Guy and he said it was OK, and I just put it down to the Magic 3.1 havin ****ed the PS2.
Now he has sent it back saying that there are graphic glitches in most games , and games freeze on him (especially during fmv sequences). I have tried and tried but I cant make the thing freeze once. I am thinking he is just using crap media ?
Does anyone know about the DVD driver being missing? as it might be related? Also if if I look for the DVD driver version in the browser screen, its not even listed!

IF its not listed, then ya, that could be a big problem. Get a DVD remote control and use the drivers off the CD there to update it, maybe that would help out.

I had the same problem with a V4 and ******2Gold-chip. It didn't play DVD's and there was no driver listed. I have removed the chip and the DVD-driver was back.
Next week I will reinstall a ******2Gold-chip and hope that it then works.

Thanks for the replies guys, I removed the messiah2 chip and DVD Movies Worked Again! I replaced the messiah with a DUO and everything is sweet again :)
The messiah2 chip looked fooked! all along one side of the actel chip the pins looked very messy soldered.
