NH7 modchip? –
09-28-2004,11:17 PM
I finally pulled apart my (secondhand) PS2 today to figure what version I had and what modchip was in it... after some sweat and stress, I finally pulled everything apart to reveal a GH-022 v8 mobo and a... wtf? a NH7 chip? It isn't listed on the sticky so I guess it isn't included in even the "semi-popular" category... I googled it to find these 2 pages...

...for inclusion into the sticky or whatever. I'm just curious if any modders have heard of this chip and... um, if perhaps I can replace it with a newer one that includes that wonderful devolution mode or whatever so I can boot my HDD easier...

I know this is much later, but I have installed many NH7s. For the price, the chip worked.
*ONLY* on V7 consoles, though. Bad luck on V5s. Didn't seem to boot imports, though, for some reason.
An odd chip, but hella cheap. :-D
For USA consoles, short the two "US" pads together. It's a 3.3 volt chip, BTW.
