newer games not working..

I have an old school mod chip, the one where you boot up gamesharkv2 and swap with the backup. I used to have no trouble loading any game up but now when i try to load certain newer games it just stays at a black screen(ie. fight night dvd-rip won't work)Anyone else having this problem, i just want to know if its my ps2 in particular or if its a problem with the older mod chip.

This is normal with swap modes. You have to change it with some nonswap modchip ( messiah, matrix, magic....) Then you will be able to play not just dvd rips, but dvd backups also. ( if your laser is in the good shape )
