Newbee first post...please help me

Ok..I know perhaps this question has been asked many times or maybe still being debated, but I would like to know what is the best chip to get now? Im planning mostly to play backups. I also like to go online with back ups. I don't mind a little more work with soldering, as long that the chip allows backup and go online and will work with many games. I also might get into getting a hdloader to expand my gamming option, but the modchip is what Im most interested now.

Im a newbee, the last modchip I put in was like 7-8 years ago when I put in my first ps1 modchip and has enjoyed every bit of moments having a mod chip. Now, it's been quite a few years, I like to go back and get back into it for fun and for my cousin and I to waste some time when we bored. If it's sound like a newbee, I appologize and would appreciate all your help to get me going.

I have heard of stuff like dms, dms 4, dms5, infinity, and a few other new version of infinity, but I got no idea which is best to buy. Thank you for all your help. If possible, please tell me the pros and cons. Thanks so much again.

Well If you just want to play backups the duo2SE might be the best way. Trying to get DNAS backups online is not allowed here. Its only 17-21 wires for the duo2 SE and it can be found for less than 20 USD so its a good solution. It doesnt have the memory card manager or flash upgrades. The infinity and crystal are the best choices if you want a solution that is flash upgradeable. The crystal chip needs a backup enabled firmware which you want the latest version. Do a google search and you can find it. The infinity chip has the firmwares on their website. They are both good chips. Try to get the ones that can suit your needs. If you want hdloader on the MC both the infinity and crystal can do it. It would be nice to identify your console version. I hope this helps for you.

Thank you I will try to find out what ps2 version I have and will post. What about the fliptop, is that a good way??

I dont recommend that. You have to swap the discs all the time. If you mind that then thats ok. Some people sell the duo2SE installed for 40 USD. It's a cheap chip but it will boot backups without swap magic. The swap discs aren't the best. They dont boot all the games. If you cant solder the wires needed for the ps2 it might be best to send it in to have it installed. I hope this helps.
