Hello all, I want to install a mod-chip in my PS2 (v4), and so far I've been eyeing the Matrix Infinity. All I want is to be able to play backed-up games. I've also been looking at the more cheaper Duo Chip, but I don't know if it is any good or not, is it? Which of the two should I buy? Or perhaps there are better chips out there? Money isn't a problem, but I'd rather pay less to fit my needs. Also, which retailer is the most reliable in the US and offers the cheapest prices? Answers to any of my questions is greatly appreciated.

If you just want to play backups, Duo is the way to go.

The matrix MX4 is a good solution coming out soon. You will need to burn the full firmware if you want to play backups. It doesn't have the fancy features but it is reflashable. The duo2 SE is a good choice if you just want to play backups and originals.

Thanks for the info, I think I'm definitely sticking to the Duo 2 SE chip. Seems most affordable for the simple purpose of playing originals and back-ups.

It can boot apps on the memory card using their program and it can automatically detect games. It's a good feature. It has color fixes for pal and ntsc games and the ability to install the sony hdd software on non sony drives. Thats just some of the extra features.

You might want to download the latest firmware on the website. The newer matrix chips aren't flashed anymore but some sellers are flashing them. I hope this helps.
