I am a newbie to this whole modchip scene. But I am just wondering which modchip is best for version 9 PS2? Cuz I just bought a new PS2 from EB on boxing day and planning to install a modchip in it. I heard the DMS3 is the best one out on the market but it seems to have some problems with the latest version. Are there any more modchips that is as good as DMS3?
Basically I just need a modchip that will play ALL import and backup games(both PS2 and PS1), reads both all format of DVD burn discs, and be able to view all multiregion DVD movies(both original and backup).
Oh and my PS2 is NTSC/US.
Any help will be appreciated~~!

12-28-2003,02:17 AMwell up till you said multi region I was going to suggest the Bluechip or smart chip - but if you want multi region go the DMS3 V9 - just make sure your installer is a pro.
Or get the smart chip and use the DVD regionX or similar (ARmax) to get mutli region DVD.

What about the Magic V chip? I heard it has ALL the function of DMS3 chip except for playing multi region DVD movies. Since I have a DVD player I guess I don't really need that feature.

12-28-2003,08:21 AMyes all other chips are about equal - I have installed both the MagicV 50k and the BlueX-5 - both work fine for game booting but neither have Multi-region DVD.
But as you said most home dvd players have that anyway so why pay extra for it on your PS2.
Only plus for the BLueX-5 ot smartchip over the magic, is they boot faster as they skip the PS2 logo.

I have that 50001 ps2v9 ntsc and my dms3v9 flash 1.8 works flawlessly.
