    kamaleon, thanks for the diagram. The track are on the bottom? Ok, that will make things easier. Follow the mclr pin (28) and the track that feeds it. It's on the bottom of the board (assuming Kid Buu is right). The track does not have to be a isolated track between the mclr pin and 5v. 5v feeds multiple pins. Cut the track feeding the mclr pin. Solder your switch like this:

    1. one side cut track.
    2. opposite side gnd.
    3. mclr pin.

    In theory this should work.

    what im doing righ tnow is detaching pin 28 fromt eh board, it turned out to be easier than i thought. I used a strong neddle to lift the pin up while i used the solderign iron. less than a sec.

    ill wire it up and test it. this way there is no uncertainties on cutting that track.

    if someoen wants to cut that track and test for 5v continuity it would be great.

    ill post back about the pin i lifted.

    if someone wants to lift that pin, be carefull, its very fragile!

    ok.. this si untested yet...

    i lifted and isolated pin28 from the pcb board.

    1.Green cable is mclr (allready isolated)
    Due to the nature of the delicate pic i hot glued the cable in order to take away stress from the pin.

    2. white cable => +5v
    3. black cable => ground

    i just bought a 'push' three leged switch (i dont like the left and right ones). Ill be testign this later on today..

    anyone want to send me those two games that frezzes? i just got into teh ps2's last night (as a fabor to my little bro) and havent got time to download anything yet.

    If this works i wanna add an led with dual color (or just 2 leds) to 'see' when its on and off
    green = on
    red = off

    but thats for a later time

    Kamaleon I can't send you the games but if you leave the chip on boot any backup then switch it off and the backup continues to run(thats the first test.
    Second leave the chip (off) and try to boot another it should not boot.

    It's some kind of test anyway.
    I would send you the games but don't have Kingdom hearts and only have gta vice city. (takes awile to freeze)
    If you can get Kingdom hearts it locks up during the intro!

    kamaleon,

    You are the only one that has had the 8all's or Pu55y to do the actual switch thing with the 3.5 chip (hehehehehe ;-) ). I have been following it and been silent because I have not info to offer (But if you want info on another hobby I can help ;-) ). Other then to see what everyone says and does. After reading all the threads and thinking logically (Some electronic background). What you did should work. Question is.... Did it work?? From what I have seen and read you are the only one that has actually done it with a Magic 3.5

    Let me know how its going..

    It sounds like a chip or install issue.

    To test this theory: I installed a switch on a magic 3.0 on a v7. Instead of cutting the track. I used a nail clipper and cut the mclr pin like others here has suggested. I then soldered one point to the leg and the other to the 5v point.

    On the switch it like this:

    mlcr leg to center pole of switch
    5v to left pole of switch
    ground to right pole of switch

    With the switch on Kingdom heart(TDK DVD-R) booted and frozed on the second loop of the intro.

    With the switch off unable to boot kingdom heart.

    With the switch on kingdom heart booted. Turn switch off after Playstation 2 screen. kingdom heart looped the intro for three hours without freezing.

    I know I did not use a magic 3.5 chip. But this test should still applicable because a magic 3.5 is only the magic 3.0 + clip.
