Alright...Going from the xbox scene to this is quite different. Looks like with PS2 chips the functions of what the ps2 can do are WIDELY based on the chip itsself, whereas with an xbox that's all really in the flashable bios and software itsself...And I want to get my ps2 modded, but I don't trust myself soldering such small pins, yet I need to find someone reliable and trusted to send my ps2 to.

I also don't know which chip to even look for, I mean pricing isn't THAT much of a factor, but if I can get it cheap then that works for me. What I plan to do with the PS2 is take advantage of the hdd/copy games to it, don't plan to watch dvds on it/play PAL games...that I know of...Well maybe..Never played PAL games on my xbox though, but I guess there's some cool imported games out there, along with usage of backups on cdr/dvdr etc..Anyways...Was wondering if anyone could give me some good reccomendations on a chip/dealer that would suit my needs? And any other information I should know of in this scene of modding? Btw, my ps2 is the last model/version made before the slim-lines..if anyone needs that info.

duo2se, magic kx+ - nonflashable direct boot chips.
crystal chip, dms4 - flashable chips ( i didnt mention MI just because there are lots of clones out there) The flashable chips, allow you to have special menu (kind of like 4th gen xbox chips) where you can do some extra things. ie DMS4 Pro will offers a lot more hdd support functions.

Myself I use the magic kx+ on my slimline ps2. Regardless of what chip you go with they will play pal games, the difference is if they will output pal in ntsc format. DMS4 has a force NTSC option, im sure the CC & MI have this also I just can't remember right now. What you can do though is patch the iso with a pal to ntsc patcher, then burn the game. when you play the game now it will display in ntsc format.
