Hello, I usually use ps2 with flip top, but recently got a v10 ps2, with duo2se chip.

But I cannot get backup games to boot, what am I doing wrong?

When I boot up the ps2 it looks normal, is there supposed to be a duo2 boot up screen or anything? Is there something I am supposed to do to turn the chip on?

I am using Maxell DVD+r disks, that have worked in my flip top v7 ps2, putting the dvd+r into the drive and then pressing reset.

It keeps going back to the
    browser
    configuration

menu. Am I doing something wrong? Any comments would be appreciated

Ya when i go to browser it says "no data"

After teesting further I think the ps2 laser may be broke =/ Is there anything You or anyone could suggest on further tests that I can do, to determine the problem?

Tried ps1 retail game, ps2 retail game, audio cd, dvd+r backup , and dvd-r backup.

They all do the same thing. its says "no data" when i click on browser

edit-- When i put in memory card, and select browser only the memory card icon shows up, not the disk icon.

did u burn it right for it to boot right up? to copy ps2 games get dvd decrypter then heres the steps:

    step#1

open dvd decryptor then go to MODE>ISO>READ and then it will copy the game and make an iso file on your pc hdd.

    Step#2

when that finishes go to MODE>ISO>WRITE and then select the iso file that decryptor just made. It will burn the file to the dvd and presto you are done.
    GOALS:
getting a new ps2 (not slimline) in progress
putting a duo 2 in ps2 in progress

took old goals out because my ps2 is broken

Ya its defiantly burnt right. The backup's work on another ps2 v7 with flip top lid.

But as i stated above, not only do back-up gets this error. Even retail ps1, ps2, dvd movies, and audio cd's also get the no data error

If PS1 and PS2 RETAIL games do not function, you have big problems. I tend to go with the install, but geez, to not play originals requires a major screwup. So, that suggests a laser problem.

Your first and easiest troubleshooting step should be to detach the POWER, GROUND and RESET wires from the chip, and try it again with originals. She works... your install is toast. She doesn't... time to find a new laser.

The Duo I have (not SE) is bypassed if you hold down the reset button when powering on until the blue clouds start showing up onscreen. I'd check to see if it boots originals when bypassing the modchip to confirm that it is in fact the laser causing troubles.

can you hear the laser clicking when the system boots up?..or does it make no noise...also can you hear the disc spin?...if none of those things happen..you might have a loose or fallen out ribbon cable
