i purchased my PS2 nearly 2 years ago.. it worked fine for about 6 months then it started crapping out.. giving me disc read errors and what-not. it eventually became nothing more than a $400 paperweight (that's what i paid for it
). so it sat in my room collecting dust for another year and a half. till about a week ago i happened to come across a post on an ezboard somewhere with a theory on why the PS2 was getting disc read errors and how to fix it. i followed the instructions, and suddenly, BOOM, i have a working PS2 again (although the warranty is void now, but that expired about 2 days before it started ****ing up in the first place anyways).
so umm... now that i have a working PS2 again (and my warranty is void anyways), i am curious about the new hacks and stuff that have been developed since my PS2 quit working. like all the emulators and crap. i've read about the swap tricks and stuff, but i'm really thinking about getting a modchip.
which modchip would you recommend for myself? which is easiest to install, most compatible? etc
also: how do i know which version my PS2 is? on the box it says SCPH 35001 (it's the one that shipped with Gran Turismo 3).
your help is much appreciated.
