Uhm, if you're talking about modchips yes they are good... You can play backuped games with one of these chips. I recommend you get the Duo 2 SE (non-swap chip, direct boot) if you're just looking foward to playing backuped games and not doing much else.
If you're going to get a brand new PS2 you might want to do some research on V9/10 burning out. The new PS2s are either V9 or V10. These new PS2s are known to have their controller chip (the la chip) and laser burn out due to bad media being played on them. (scratched discs or cheap media)
You can prevent these burnout with a mod though. Called the Romeo Mod.
You need to do a lot more research before you could go on with this.
If you have no soldering experience, you should consider sending the PS2 to someone for modding. Because this is extremely hard for someone who is brand new and never soldered before.
Good luck.

LOL. There's a chip named "chipmod?" Wow. Alright, but let me tell you to stay away from it and get yourself a Duo 2 SE. That chip in only available at modchip.ca. They're the only one who have it. If you run into some trouble, you won't get much support.
It is plain and simple, but it cost more than it should be. That thing should cost 15 bucks. Maybe even 10.
Its just a ripoff of the ICE chip dont buy this crap right along with the duoSE
G, you hate the Duo 2 SE?Originally Posted by <G>
I like the DUOse, but it also is a direct rip of the ICE code. Still, one easy install.
I also wonder why modchip.ca is the only supplier of this chip. Kinda suggests that they've got out and had the chip manufactured just for them. In that case, the support will be horrendous.
Does it say V1-V8 on it? They describe it as working on all versions. S'up with that?
Even if it's rip of the Ice Code, people are still getting the chips for a fair cheap price. $20-25. So for the price I like it.Originally Posted by mikearama
buy something blank as the MegaSX here www.megasx.com . Buy the hardware and upload the Ice codes.

Just get yourself a Duo 2 SE and save yourself the trouble.Originally Posted by cipcipstore
