Network adapter and HDD support
Network adapter and HDD support –
do all network adapters have these connectors for the internal HDD, or it needs be some 'special' model of the network adapter ?
Folks that recently got their network adapter (from a store) - please, let me know - thanks !
P.S. I know that more is needed than just to plug the HDD in the network adapter in order to use it
the sony network adapter has the ide and power connectors on the side of the unit that connects to the ps2. aside from maybe in japan, there is no "special model"(in japan they have external hdd's as well)
also, if you plan on using a non-sony hdd, you can only use certain homebrew apps with it and require a dms3 chip. otherwise you need to obtain illegal software and patch every game you want to use with it..
isn't it all in the partition format ?
isn't it all in the partition format ? –
why do you say I need to patch my games,
I think that I only need to format a game partition correctly (ps2fdisk or something) and the game should be able to see the disk... ?
I also heard about patching the ATAD.IRX file. Is this what you mean ? But then what could be so different about the Sony's HDD ? It is an ATA Seagate disk after all ?
the atad.irx file is found on the game disc. from what i understand, even if there is a suitable partition, it does a firmware check on the hdd. this is why a generic drive does not work.. there is a hack out there for the atad.irx file, hence the need to patch every game that uses it..
