    Hello all!

I'm very happy to have found this site after a week of exauhstive research

I'm a little lost and hope to get some good advice on picking up a decent chip for my PS2. I do have one of the dreaded V12 "Slimline" consoles. All I want is to be able to play import games from any region: US, CA, JP, EU, etc... I don't care about backups, HDD, or anything else.

What I have seen out there scares the hell out of me. Seems to me that there are a lot of clone chips and no REAL way to make sure your getting the "Real Deal" when ordering online, so any advice on a chip model/line and a good online retailer to buy from would be most appreciated

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you cant get a real one, then just buy a clone. they are not as bad as you think.

get magic 5kx+. It's inexpensive and easy to install, does all the things that you want. No fancy features like the crystal and matrix, but it doesnt require a fix.

It's not easy to install... There are more wires than the Crystal Chip or Matrix Infinity. It does require a fix, there are people who had Magic VKX+ with burnouts. Inexpensive? $25-30 for like $15-20 more you can get more features and less wires requirement from a Crystal Chip or Matrix Infinity. Use Summ0ne fix.

Could not have said that better myself tony! I personally had a PStwo which burned out on me with a MagicVKX in it!

If you want ALOT of the same features the Matrix Infinity and Crystal has but dont want to break the bank then go with the Ripper3.1!

This chip is as reliable and stable as ANY modchip on the market! FACT!!!

    I will pm you now...

Thanks for the suggestions so far...

I was leaning between the Matrix Infinity or the DMS4 Pro. Money is not an issue, just quality and dependability. I was leaning for the above two because from what I have researched, these two chips seem to be the most solid. I really like that the MI seems to be the easiest to install at 19 conductors (correct me if I'm wrong ).

Many people on this board will tell you to go with an MI over the DMS4 for assorted reasons that may not necessarily have to do with the chips themselves.

I don't personally know anyone with an DMS chip, but the one I tried to install (DMS3+) wouldn't work for squat. Conversely, the two MI installs i've done have work fine.

If money isn't an issue, I reccommend paying someone to install the chip for you. It really is a pain in the ass. Don't forget to get a network adapter and install a hard drive for extra goodness a la HD loader for reduced loading times on many games.

You should be happy with a matrix infinity, i must warn you though. This is precise micro soldering, if you are not a expert at soldering you will more than likely ruin the ps2.

I would highly recommend getting an installer to mod your station. This is very hard soldering. If you want to damage your ps2 as net says then do it.
