Need help quick. –
I'm pretty much done installing my chip. But the GND has me confused. do I just put a glob of solder there to connect the chip to that little hole by the white square it shows on the diagram?
You don't actually have to connect it directly to GND, actually, I prefer not soldering anything directly to the board. Easier for removal. Just put some solder on that GND point and use either a single 22 AWG wire or two 30 AWG wires to connect the chip's GND point to the motherboard
Thanks. So does that mean anywhere on the board? or to a specific location?
also, i just hit a snag. My soldering iron slipped, and i got some solder across a few pins on one of the chips. I have to clean it up so the pins arent touching, so im just digging at it with an exacto knife. is that ok?
No! Use desoldering braid to remove excess solder! An exacto knife may be used when there are tiny amounts, but is still dangerous because if that slips... it could be over.
As for the ground, connect it to the point where it says to connect it in the diagram, or to the surrounding ground track on the board.
I'm really having a tough time with M N O and P. the dont want to stay put
Are you applying a good amount of solder to the pins before soldering the wires to them?
I'm trying, but it is just making a mess, and conecting the pins. i need a thinner soldering iron tip.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions,
