First off fair warning this questions is about a DMS3+. I know dms is no longer supported here but you guys are great here and I have tried to get answers from the dms forum and I don't get any help

    With that here you go.

I first did the install and everythign seemed fine (a few bumps but not bad) but the chip wouldn't do anything (couldn't see dms disabled when I tried sleep mode and wouldn't read my flashed discs.) I was pissed especially after I rechecked everything and ohmed everything out and it was fine. However my wires were a little messy so I decided to re do it. Now my install looks good and clean yet Im still getting the same results. Everything works fine but it acts as if the chip wasn't installed. Ohmed everything (fine). Checked the voltage with my ground...perfect, Any ideas? I assume it has something to do with it however I just redid the gound so it was shorter (grounded it to the side of the mobo) and still rsod and no dms dissabled message.

I checked my burned cd and there is nothing wrong with the files. It reads the files correctly when in my puter. I have done chips in ps2's before but not a dms. I have never had this problem however this is for a customer and Im stumped. Any ideas?

It is a Dms3+ installed in a v3 no gap ps2. Everything is fine except it acts as if the chip isn't there.

Thanks for finishing this and I hope someone will be kind enough with an answer or at least and idea (Im out of them) and no flamming. If this wasn't a customer I was doing this for I would have never gone the dms route and I WILL NEVER AGAIN! This is awful. No wonder they are getting flammed everywhere.

    Thanks all

That is the same problem I had with my DMS install in a v4. I found out that the install diagrams on the official DMS site were wrong. I had to use the v4 diagrams off of d i v i n e o.com

Your diagrams may be correct, but mine weren't, and that was my problem.

I don't see any diagrams there for a no-gap install on a v3, but here is the gap diagram from there....

I really have no idea why there isn't any non gap diagrams. Can you go by the gap diagram? Do you maybe have a refurbished v3? I put a Matrix Infinity into a refurb v3 and sony had switched the bios to a no gap. The matrix team said that their gap bios diagram would still work just fine for me, and it did.

That is an interesting thought. I was following the non gap for the regular dms3 no gap (they have a diagram for that.) That is odd that it still worked with the gap install. Was your bios chip on the top or bottom of the board? Mine is underneith right by the dvd connector. Matrix's are so straight forward aren't they. I will never do this chip again for anyone. Done with it. But I must get it working now. I haven't failed at a mod yet and this won't be my first. Any way to test if the chip is defective? Im going crazy.

I really don't remember if the chip was on the top or bottom, all I remember is that Sony had switched it to the other bios points. Thats what threw me off. I emailed Luke @ matrix, and he said it would work fine, and it did. I have also pretty much given up on the DMS products. I'm going to stick with Duo2SE's and Matrix Infinity chips from now on. There is no reason that a chip has to be so difficult when there are many less fussy ones out there.

I do understand where you are coming from tho when you say you have to get it done for someone. Sorry I can't be of any more help than I have been. I wish somebody else would chime in on this thread!!

Just a thought, but did you say you followed the regular DMS3 install diagram instead of the DMS3 + diagram? whats the difference? maybe thats the problem?

I did orginially follow the dms3 diagram until I found out there was a different 1 for dmsplus. The only differeance was taking out t,q,r,s. That was about it. What do you think. Im thinking about killing any profit I have on this chip and getting an infinity. I already am losing tons of time working on it. Just a thought. Thankyou so much for responding it is at least giving me new ideas.

Well, it may be feasible for you to just put in an infinity and sell that chip. There are still people that swear by the DMS3, and that is all they use. So you could get some of your $$ back at least.
