Need help from an installer
Need help from an installer –

I am currently attempting my first mod-chip install and I have run across a snag. I have a Matrix Infinity chip going in a V9 PS2, and I am having difficulty with the small cluster for the B, I, H, & G wires. I have everything else done except for these connections. I am having a hard time getting these wires to connect to the board. Do I need to get some solvent to expose the connections more?
Any helpful tips would be appreciated.

When i was dealing with the B, I , H and G points, I always used a craft knife to very very gently scrape the anti solder paint on the points, then use a rosin pen to apply rosin to the solder spots, and only then add a wee bit of solder to them. The idea is to have a small amound of solder on those specific points, so it is then easier to solder on you lines.
If you use a craft knife, always watch out for the traces around the points, and be very gentle, as not much effort is needed to remove the paint.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have already tried the knife trick and ended up boogering up my 'I' connection point. Guess that one will have to come off of the chip now. I've never heard of a rosin pen though. Guess I may need to take a trip to the local electronics store. Thanks for the tips. I am just very cautious right now. I've gotten this far, don't want to booger it up now.

If you are in the UK, then check out maplins for a rosin flux pen. Otherwise, you can get little tubs of paste. Rosin is definately a big help with any soldering job.
