my ps2 is slow???

I was playing some games on my ps2, and then about an hour later i was playing on my ps2 again and for some reason it was going really really slow and it took about 5 minutes to load the game and every menu. Do u think it's a problem that involves the modchip or my ps2 in general. I own a ps2 v7 and a messiah 2 mod. I've had my v7 ps2 with messiah 2 for about a month now and i've had no problems except for now.

same thing happened to my friend, it took him 3 minutes to load every training camp/game in madden....but he had a neo 2.2 with a v5 ps2 he got 2 years ago

it helped take off the time by 1 minute 30 seconds by cleaning the laser, maybe you should try that

i just went to the person who installed my modchip and he said that it was probably the cd's but the thing is that i tried ps1 burned games on the same brand of cd's and they work fine. i don't know wat kind of cd's r good but if someone could tell me which brand of cd's r good, and if that doesn't solve the problem i'll consider cleaning the laser or getting a new one installed.

I think a laser cleaning is necessary as well.

the thing that pisses me off is the fact that all my ps2 games were working fine and an hour later they wouldn't work anymore so i don't see how my laser could need cleaning in an hour just after it was working fine. plus i just got my new ps2 ver 7 only 2 months ago and my old ps2 didn't need a laser cleaning in 2 years never mind 2 months and i also kept my old one on the ground where it was dusty now i keep it on a little table and it already needs cleaning? plus it costs me $10 every time to clean my dmn ps2. Another thing is that i tried original games and they worked with no delay at all plus i tried ps1 games burned on same brand of cd's as i said before and they also worked with no delay. I also tried the dvd-r that i have and that has a stratch on it even and that also worked with no delay. if this info helped u think of anythin at all plz help me solve this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

if u put a dusty hairy disk in your ps2 it takes 30 secs for laser to become dirty

try a cleaning disk

my disc aren't dirty it was newly burned even and if my old games work on the cd brands an hour ago, it should work now. Most of them work now but there are still a couple that are still slow!!!! I thought v7's had great lasers but it needs cleaning after 2 short months??????? anywayz i'll go back to the mod guy's store and have a talk with him then and get him to check my laser if it's dirty or not. As for that 30 second dirty thing, how come my old v5 ps2 never needed cleaning for 2 years???

what cdr brand are you using? i have read that verbatims are the best for backups. I have also read that cdrs of any brand are more demanding than a dvd-r on the laser I avoid them myself (cdrs)

i am using cicero cd's cause i can't find any verbatims to buy but they were all workin before. Anywayz, most of my games somehow fixed themselves but there is still some games that screw up.

Cicero are one of the worst, i cannot stress on that

i got 100 pack of cicero, all the games i use on it are SOOO damn slow, except for 1 (Guilty gear xx)
