My new pre-modified ps2(-9004) will not plays ps1 disc

Today I got a new ps2 with mod chip(i don't know which). Everything is ok but (backup)ps1 and dvd movies will not plays. Only show red screen or setup screen. The instructions say: with ps1 and dvd movies press 3time reset...I have tried all ways but no works. Where is problem?

well in order to help you out we should now which modchip you have .?

is there any logo appear after Sony Browser like Matrix ?

I have order this console with modchip(cheapest) but I really don't know which modchip it is. And there is no logo like Matrix infinity version 1.xxxx,,,

most likely one wire came loose in your system since the same wire that handles ps1 often handles dvd playback as well. but there's no way we can help since you don't even know what chip you have. I suggest taking it back to the person you bought it from and complain until it's fixed.
