I have a Version 5 US PS2 just to let you know...

Just a little review on this chip. It's a nice small chip, but the main IC is quite thick. Thus, when I put the metal shielding plate back on the PS2 Motherboard PCB bent a little. This did not hurt the machine though. I fit it over top of the Rom Drive to keep the wires as short as possible. Also as you can see from the pictures I have posted I used a larger ground wire as well as two larger power leads for the 3.3V and 5V points.

Installation was a tad difficult and I do not recommend for the begginers, but I was not as tough as the Neo 4.1.

    Comments welcomed...

    Enjoy.

PS. I cannot get PSX Back-ups to load. I can get the following to load though:

    PS2 Original Game (CD): OK
    PS2 Original Game (DVD): OK
    PS2 Back-Up (CD-R): OK
    PS2 Back-Up (DVD-R): N/A (Don't have a DVD-R Drive yet.)
PS2 Back-Up (DVD-Rip): OK (Tested but not used. Bad for PS2.)

    PSX Original (CD): OK
PSX Back-Up (CD-R): Fail (Can't get to work)

    DVD Movie: OK

What can the problem be, any help would be appreciated, thanks..

    Peace Out...

Thanks for all the compliments on my install. I try my best, plus I like doing it right the first time. Saves you time in the end...

Anyway, about my PSX Trouble. I did the following to boot them, please tell me if this is the only way you can boot them:

Insert PSX back-up. Power Down (Standby). Hold reset until machine powers on. Let go. Game loads. I think its a pain how you have to power down evertime, but as long as it works.

    Peace Out...

I believe all you have to do is insert the PSX backup and then press and hold the Reset button until the blue Eject light comes on. I'll let LOD confirm this, but that's what I recall seeing him do with another v5 with a Magic Chip2 that he installed.

I confirm the Great Balto's adsvice. That's how the PS1 games boot.

That sounds right Balto. Seems to me I read somewhere that you only need to power down when the PS2 is going to different modes. PSX to PS2, or switching to play DVD, etc. Let us know if you find out for sure.

Just auctioned off all my Sega gear---almost got enuff for the Pioneer DVD-R and v5 US Magic2........WOOHOOO!!!!!!
