ok i just installed a new laser in a version 4 R ps2... and now it is grinding when i go to eject the disc out of the ps2... i now that the laser is falling out of the grooves on the motor sled rail and i think it is because it is hitting something when it slides forward all the way, what can i don't to stop this from doin this? It has a magic 3.1 installed and boot games, backups and original fine, i just don't think the grinding is good for it and it is annoying me...
    thanx for the help...

Interesting. Sounds like the drive's sequence control does not know when the laser has reached its 'home' position and just keeps moving the head.
Normally, the head assembly touches a tiny switch somewhere so the drive knows when to stop the respective motor. maybe that is not working correctly anymore. Did you connect all the drive cables?

Or maybe, a more simple reason could be that the screw on one of the two rails on which the head slides forth and back is not fastened enough.
