Put a MI in a V7 PS2. Turned it on *without* the plastic bottom cover. Bad idea. After a spark (on the poswer source board with the 4 screws) the the PS2 went dead. After that it would not power on.

I replaced the power source board with a good one, and got the PS2 to power up.
The problem is that it won't boot anything. The drive ejects and spins up like its supposed to, but I get a 'no data' error -> red screen if I boot from the browser or just the red screen if i cold boot from standby mode.

Is this my laser or laser coils? If so, where can I get spare parts and instructions on how to fix it?

first thing - remove the mod - you might've shorted something causing the psu to blow. also check all the fuses on the ps2 main board.

does the ps2 eject? do ps1 or ps2 originals work?
