Is my Infinity behaving normally ??

Installed a Matrix Infinity in my PAL v5 today.
Seems to be working, however I have noticed a few strange things...

1. When I power up or reset, get black screen for about 20 secs before anything happens. (WITH joypad in)
2. Won't play DVD movies unless 'O' is held during boot (to force PS1/movie mode)

Appears this could be common on v5's, did anyone find a fix yet ? Did the cap removal help ?
3. When booting PSX games, the initial boot logo is not centered vertically.
Is shifted about an inch higher than normal.

None are major problems, would basically just like to know if they are normal or if my install is dodgy !
So please anyone with an infinity, does this sound familiar ??

That's normal... I had the same happen with a V5 Matrix Infinity installed. They said that it will be fixed with the next firmware update.

As for the PSX game logo, I didn't pay attention. So not sure if that happened as well on the console I installed it on.

yes very normal firmware was said to be coming soon but a couple months later nothin

I belive the black screen at the start is the place where you can hold down buttons like Select to Fast boot the game (Bypassing ps2 logo)

Sounds like my install is OK

The black screen thing is kinda annoying !
The wording on the matrix site makes it sound like it only does it when you don't have a joypad plugged in...

Do any other chips do this ?
Before the matrix I had a messiah 1 and before that a Neo 4, neither of them affected the boot time.

i have the same problem have installed over 50 ps2 v3/12 non of them have these problems i only have one v5 and it started showing black screens after the first week of install first every thing whent pefect
checkd my installation en every things seems to bee in order.
wirten some email to matrix support and they cant help me much exept asking quetions them self. (wich is normal)
the latest thing i found out was that is if i resettend with the cd tray open it booted every time no more black screens
but normal reset would lock up 1 outa the 5 or 8 boots
i have to send in a pic of my install and wait another 3 days befor any replay
it defenitly hase somthing to do with the boot timeing of the v5 console
darn it unhappy customers is not good for business.

seems that firmware 1.5 and above dont mix so wel with v5
downgraded firmware with 1.36 and booted every time

looks like we wil see another update thats fixes the problem
