I'm looking at the installation diagram and i have a question about a few of these points
SCEX is that pointing to the whole rectangular thing(I don't know what its called) or does it have to be soldered to a section of it
Same with point A
and the 3.3v looks like just a hole so i don't know what to do there
if anyone have a photo of what a good, completed installation should look like for a Magic V please share

if you are doing the install yourself - use the DUO chip - free shipping from Modchips.cc
The SCEX point is the metal end of the resistor and the capacitor near where it points to - both are joined by a track to a leg on the chip just off to the right.

Sorry, I'm still kind of confused. Looking at the diagram I need to solder it onto the right silver part of the rectangle? I'm guessing that is teh resistor. What is the capictor?

Wait switch that around. The first part is the capacitor I THINK, but I don't know what the resistor is. Did I get that right?

I can tell from reading your post so far that you haven't installed many modchips inside ps2's before. They can be tricky if your not familiar with soldering and the tools necessary to do so.
You need the chip of course. 30 gauge wrapping wire (available from radio shack). 24 guage wire (for GND and PWR better stability then usings 30 guage for these). Solder flux. Soldering iron 15 watt pencil tip works and only $8 or so from radio shack. And Solder. Desolder wick just in case.
Unless your planning on modding a couple friends consoles it may be worth having a pro do your install. Your looking at ~$30 after taxes for modding supplies only.
If you can still get another chip and have a v0-8 i would suggest the duo chip. Easier install for the beginner with only 17 wires.

well ive worked with soldering before a bit so i know how to use it but nothing as small
having a pro mod it isnt really worth it
local modders ask for like 145
i dont really want to ship it out to anyone either - it would also be more expensive this way
i already got the modchip so i cant get the duo
but i'll take open up my ps2 and take a look and decide
i'm good with like computer parts but thats just not the same
if i do an improper installation its more likey to just not work instead of permanent damage as long as i dont burn the board or something correct?
i already got the modchip so maybe its about 10-15 for supplies right?

Depending on what you need to buy its $10-$25 for supplies. Your located outside the US? $145 is a ton for install.
If you dont burn anything and can successfully remove a bad install then yea you can more then likely get away without any permanent damage but its very easy to blow a fuse with a bad install.

I live in New York. I went to Chinatown in NYC and they said 145.
