MXL2 & component cables

2 NTSC V7 ps2's with 2 real MXL2 chips (from foundmy.com) installed.
both with madcatz component cables http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...d=&newdeptid=2 (great deal IMO!)
system setup 16:9, digital out on, yg yr yb.
2 different tv's, samsung WS & sony WS
id get more info if its necessary, but this is all i can remember from memory.

ps2 boot up with reset button (modchip on) the video is as normal
ps2 boot up with reset held for 3 sec (modchip disabled) video is flickering and scrolls left horizontally.
both ps2 do this.

can someone please do a quick little test if you have a similar setup. i wanna verify this. or is this expected from the MXL2?

The disable procedure you mention is not correct, it just puts the ps2 in PSX mode.

To disable the chip, from the matrix www :

With the PS2 on standby position (red light ON), press the reset button and keep pressed until the blue light turns ON.

Release reset button and press again within two seconds.

Are you sure you are using Real Matrix MXL2??

The disable procedure you have used its correct, both are ok, the one you used and the one mentioned above.

It is a bug converting the videomode to PAL.

Send an e-mail to Matrix Team, they will solve this kind of problem, they always help me when I got those kind of problems.

i just got owned!

well, ill have to get the ps2 back from my cuz to test them out fully again.

ok, ran through the ps2 again.

the disable feature according to http://www.infinitymod.com/1009USA/1009USA-instr.htm works perfectly.

the problem is in booting ps1 originals, backups and dvd movies.

the swirling electrons are in b&w and the screen wont hold vertically or horizontally. but as soon as the disc (ps1 original Tenchu) loads up, the PS symbol and such are back to normal. so with the ps1 original, the only problem is that the browser screen is affected.
when trying to watch a dvd using the same method, the screen continues to flicker and lose vertical and horizontal hold even into the movie.
when the component cables are switched out for a madcatz RF adapter, the video is just fine.
im going to look for the original composite cables and see whether that is affected as well.

ok, just plugged in a set of original ps2 composite cables (the ones included with the ps2) and the browser screen is normal, no flickering, when booting up using the ps1 method (hold reset till eject light comes on).
so have i isolated this problem enough? that its associated with the component cables? the link i posted above is the type of cable i am using. if someone has a setup with sony component or monster component cables, can you please verify this problem i am having? remember that my ps2 is setup in yb yg yr because the madcatz cables will not work in RGB.
DVD movies will play just fine when booting up with the MXL2 disabled with any type of cable.

another thing, boots up original and backup ps2 games just fine.

I never used Madcatz cable, so I can't tell the difference, but did you actually try a normal RGB Cable?

Did you try the NTSC Fix?

i dont own a normal RGB cable (would that be the sony component set), and dont know anyone that does.
is that what it looks like when a PAL is trying to play on an NTSC? off center, flickering, off colours? if so, then ill give the NTSC fix a try.

i emailed them as well, lets see what i get in response.

yes, those are the syntoms, anyhow I suggest you to give it a try with a RGB cable before.
