Well up until today i've been installing nothing but Infinities in v12s and had not 1 single problem.

I ordered a batch of MX4 a while back and this is the first time I've used some out of this batch (last ones I used were back when 1.0 firmware was latest and had no problems with them).

Anyway, I installed the MX4 and Summ0ne fix, neat tidy install as always...

Switched on holding power with 1.1 firmware disc and flashed the firmware.

Switched off and put backup disc in..Got RSOD.. Pressed reset and it booted, as it does every time I press reset after that.

So I try a DVD from a cold boot and everythings green, press reset and the film comes through in full colour.

Put an original game from cold boot, just standard Playstation 2 logo, press reset and MX4 1.1 is under the PS2.

Checked wiring and its perfect - before any of you say check the wiring, i've done well over 100 slimline ps2s and not had one problem up until now.

I even took the chip out and put another MX4 in with exact same result...

Unfortunately I don't have firmware 1.0 to test any more..

    Ian.

You have a very unique and odd problem. It sounds like the ground or power cable is not sturdy. I would try to reinstall the chip completely. See if that makes any difference. If you tried another chip that meant that it's not the chip that's the problem. It's probably the install. No matter how condident you are, you could be human and make humanly mistakes.

Well i've just tried the first chip in another v12 ps2 and its displaying the exact same problem. It must be a faulty batch.

Just replaced MX4 chip for Infinity on both consoles using same wire and both booting 100%.

Wow. If you could try those chip on a ps2, I wonder if it's really a bad batch.
