    moded v12 with mx4 the instal went realy well with 2k r /4.7r powered got message no dater so iooked at the lens and yep it had melted opened it up to see what had coused it a wire had come of the 2k r .doing the sony swap tuesday so nothing lost so make sure you solder the resistors on well.

    Personally, for soldering to SMT parts, I would use 2% or 3% silver solder. It prevents the silver on the resistors' edges from leeching into non-silver solder and causing a poor connection to the PCB (since without the silver content the metal used on the resistor just doesn't seem to accept solder well and may cause it to lift from the board a little).

    You don't need to use it on any other joints, regular solder is fine for BIOS pins, VIAs, pads, etc.

    I found a console with similar problems, put silver solder on instead, the problem went away. But if the laser is melted already... bummer.

    thanks for the tip i should recieve a new 1 to day done the sony swap so next time i will use silver solder on them points thanks.
