More confused than ever!
More confused than ever! –
Ok, after reading up on on things in this forum, I am more confused about my model of PS2 than ever. =( Here are my stats.
Serial # - U0XXXXX
Date Code (That what its called?) - PT10XXXXX
I purchased a V3 Magic 2 Chip from modchip.ca, figuring that was definately my version.
Now, here is the catch (SEE PIC BELOW). If you look and see the solder points such as T,U,V,P,O,N, and M. Right where they are supposed to be, I have a chip there, its NOT empty as shown in the picture. And there is a "gap" in the middle, is this the gap ROM everyone talks about? So is my Magic 2 V3 red-board the wrong chip? Which one is the right one? All I want is to get this over with. =)
Please someone give me some insight. I thought my PS2 was a V2....but Im guessing its not? Will I also need a different modchip? I would take a pic of my PS2 but I dont have a camera. I really appreciate any advice, as I am about to tackle this install on my own and it doesnt look very easy.
I have the same board you have. There is a gap-rom in the empty spot. If you read LOD's posts of PS2 Version 2 pictures. He has the connection points for both Gap and nongap rom. I have not try them yet, Let me know if those points work for you.
