I have modded many XBOXs in my time and I am new to the whole Ps2 Scene. All I want to do is mod my PS2 to play the imported Tekken 5 and perhaps play back up games burned to DVD. Are there any solderless modchips similar to the XBOX? Whats the best way to go about hooking my XBOX up. All I really want is to be able to play the japanese import of Tekken 5. Thanks for all and any help.

I also forgot to say that I have a version 1 PS2. And If I could go about playing an import with a swap disc method or something very easy where I wouldn't have to solder, that method would be great. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

solderless PS2 mods are junk and they overheat the bios causing it too lift off the mainboard, I have seen this in 9 different units, absolutely junk crap.

V1 ia a bear to do, I have done well over 100 of them.

Once you install a modchip, what else do you need to do to play burned discs and imports, is there any software you need like EvoX on an XBOX? Or does it just play it automatically? If I were to ship out my XBOX to you for you to install a mod, roughly how much would you charge for everything? Or perhaps you would like your xbox modded in return? So, about how much would it be? Shipping, installation, etc.

Well if you have a v1 then dont attempt to do it. Most modders wont do your ps2 because it is way to hard to install. You wont get all that extra software unless you buy a matrixi infinity or crystal chip but those ard the hardest to do in a v1. I would get another unit that is modded. Well I hope that helps.

Don't pay that guy to mod your ps2. Instead, send your PS2 to ME.

I have a crack team of trained monkeys in my electronics basement sweatshop that have been trained to install mod-chips. Humans tend to think too much when soldering and can make a lot of mistakes. Also, most mod chippers are fat guys that are malnourished and don't have enough electrolytes in their system to keep their hand steady.

My mod-chipping-monkeys are ambidextrous and eat a bushel of bananas inbetween each mod job, so their hands are extremely steady. They are also wicked fast. My best employee, Jojo, did 2 matrix-fixes and a crystal chip install on a v1 in less than half an hour!

Because of my low overhead (bananas for the monkeys), I am able to consistently beat the prices of any other mod shop. The only caveat is that you might find some monkey poop on your PS2 when I ship it back (chimpanzees handle things in the mail room). Not to worry, it washes right off and you won't notice the smell after you get used to it.

    PM me for more details!

Is there anyway to play backups/imports without a mod chip?

Yes. It is called swap magic. You have to buy this disc and use a swapping device to swap disc and allow you to play imports/backup without modchip. It's lame, get the modchip.
