First sorry if this is in the wrong section.. i only joined to sort out this problem!

I have a Fat ps2 with a modchip.. i dont know what modchip i have, i was only little when i got it

it runs all burnt and real games/dvds fine, havent had a problem with it at all, until now.

I've been trying to download and run a Cheat device (Xploder V4, Codebreaker, Gameshark, Action Replay) and either the CD makes a horrible grinding noise, or freezes... I've had the most success with KrHacken Action Replay Max, but that freezes when i try to swap discs
I've only tried one game, and it is burnt!

Basically, i need help, i'm a complete noob with PS2s!

A fat ps2 needs manteinance a list 1 time per year, yours is dry of lub, thats why you ear that noices.

Go to a technician, disable, clean and check laser power.
After that youll know what to do: change lens or not.
Consider also to add an hdd to play.

Some fat PS2s have a horrible problem with getting a good grip on some discs.
Stick some tape onto the inner hub (The transparent part near the disc's spindle hole) of those discs, and keep adding tape around that hub until the PS2 does not make that scrapping sound.

And you must use good quality discs with FAT PS2s, or risk getting their lasers worn out (If you are lucky, those discs will just not be read).

FYI 150 views is not a lot.
