Modded My PS2, YEAH!! But I Have a Concern –

Ok so originally I was having problems with a Magic 3.1 that I tried to Install, I ended up taking the chip out and tossing it away. The PS2 wasn't working after wards but got it back to normal with some help from members here (THANKS).
So then I got the Balls to re-try again but with a different chip (DUO 2). Everything went well and is working fine. My concern is I read you have to do something to the LA6508 RII chip or it will get fried ( I have a V10 PS2). Is this true? what is this chip anyways? Is there anything else I need to fix before enjoying my system?
Thanks

Interesting, so basically even I had used an expensive chip like the Matrix I would still have this problem?
Thanks for the facts (Great wepage tony)
Where is a there a good tutorial on how to do the Romeo mod (with pics).

Yep. The modchip doesn't solve burnouts, the romeo does. Thanks for the complement.
