Modchip screwed? –

I have a V7 NTSC PS2 and I've had a Magic 3.1 chip installed for about 2 years. It worked perfect, until...
About 6 months ago it stopped booting DVD-R or DVD+R games, and DVD-RW won't even spin anymore. It used to work fine.
Everything else works, including DVD-R movies. PS2 DVD-rips on CD-R work, original DVD games, original PS1 games, everything but DVD+/-R PS2 games.
Any burned DVD game eventually goes to a red screen.
What gives?

try cleaning your laser. if that doesnt fix the problem you may need to adjust your laser pots. try to get someone who knows how to do it. finally if that doesnt work you need a new laser.

i seriously doudt it but i think thats more of a ps2 problem than the chip. i think the v7 and ups may read the rw alot better than the previous versions.
