Modchip & other questions

New guy here. Have a couple of questions like all n00bs.

1. I have a PS2 with model no. SCPH-35004 and serial C3083750.
.. a. Is there a "PS2 version guide" available?
.. b. What is this "GAP/No-GAP" thing i've seen mentioned?
Apparently I have version 4. Thanks Crans. Though, still leaves these two unanswered.

2. Ghost2 modchip manufacturer says the chip comes default in a "legal state".
.. a. Does that mean it doesn't load imports or backups in it's original state? Yes.
.. b. If so, how does one change that? Modified firmware? Yes.
.. c. If modified firmware, has anyone made it?
(maybe I should be asking the Ghost2 guys, but doesn't hurt to ask you guys )

3. What does the Matrix Infinity have over the Ghost2 chip?
Any experienced Ghost2 user care to comment?

4. What is the "Toxic OS"?
Answered. Found their web site

5. Is there a site anywhere that has a organized collection of n00b guides/answers about modding/hd'ing the PS2?
These forums.
PS2NFO Tutorials and their forums.
Any more?

Please don't tell me to search, i've done it and it helped very little.

2 you need to flash the chip with hacked bios to play backups and imports
3 matrix and Crystal chip are #1 on the market at this time
5 your on it if you have never installed a chip b4 get someone to do it for you or your going to stiff your board.. IF you have only done x box think of doing 20+ DO points..

Thanks Crans. I'm planning on doing the install myself. I'm quite confident about my mod/soldering skills and would like the experience.

Is there no one here that has some experience on the Ghost2 chip? Oh well, I guess I'll just take the Matrix Infinity.

MY GOD! Im spending too much time at school! I was talking about a V3, A V3 is *(&(*^*&^*&(* to install. A V4 is easy Tnx for waking me up mabcom, we dutchies have to stick together!
