ModChip n00b question
I kind of suck at soldering, I'm installing a duo2 in a v1 ps2.
What I'm doing is http://duomodchip.com/english/instal...o2se_gh006.jpg
Anyway, I've noticed that sometimes I manage to short a couple of pins with my shoddy soldering ability and it prevents the ps2 from displaying anything on the screen. Should the PS2 boot if say I have half the connections for the chip made, and I disconnect the PWR from the chip? Basically, I'm wondering, if you assume there are no shorts or anything like that, no PWR to the Duo2, and an arbitrary number of other connections made, will the PS2 boot up in unmodded form? That seems logical to me, but I'm not an expert... If that's the case I can go through the tedious process of making one connection at a time and testing to see if anything got majorly screwed up and thus know where the mistake I made is...
Ok, that got into rambling country, sorry... Anyway, thanks in advance for any insight.

Even if the chip is disabled, the shorts will cause abnormal behaviour in the PS2.

Dont start the ps2 with shorts!

Err.. what I meant is, if I start the PS2 at various stages of the mod, without power connected to the chip... assuming I didn't cause any shorts, the PS2 should boot up in an unmodded state, right?
