Modchip? Free McBoot?
Modchip? Free McBoot? –
I'm new to the forum, I browsed around a bit and this seems like a nice place to hang out .
I'm also new to PS2 modchips etc. A couple years ago I used to have an old PSX with a modchip in the back, so I have some experience with disc swapping. I used to make backups of the games who got damaged in order to still play them.
Last week I got an old fat PS2 (It's a V7) from a friend to play with and got me thinking.. I really want to play these old PSX backups on this PS2.
I browsed around the internet and i read about Free mcboot, modchips and such. I tried installing free mcboot with the ps2 game swap method using MOH: Vanguard. That's the only original ps2 game I have that can be used for this method. No luck so far...
Also in my understanding it is not possible to play psx backups using freemcboot. Any light on that?
So I was thinking maybe it's best to get a modchip instead. I have quite some experience with soldering, so thats not really a problem.
Since al of the chips are quite old, it's hard to decide which is the best one to get at this time. I read that the ModBo 4.0 is not bad.
Also, where to get it is another question, because i was reading about fake modchips?
You guys have any advice for me? I'm located in west-europe.
Long story short:
Want to be able to play:
PSX originals and backups
PS2 originals and backups
PS2 model: SCPH 39004 (v7) without ethernet, without hdd.
Thanks in advance,
