Hey all,

Modding my first PS2 (V7 PAL) and i'm looking for some advice.

Not sure which chip to go for, although I am biased towards getting a Matrix Infinity cos I heard good things about them.

What I want to know is are there any chips that have useful features the the Matrix Infinity doesn't?
I know that I can't put a HD Loader on the chip itself, but can I load one off a DVD and will it stop all laser activity once it is loaded?

I want to protect the laser as much as possible, so any info on the best discs to use would be greatly appreciated.
I.E. DVD+R / DVD-R and the media code or dye type that is in the disc would be great. (I know I should prob start a thread in another section for this, but I figured whoever was used to the chips would be used to the media types)

well from what ive been told +R kill the laser faster the -R so i also have been told that ritek -R work good but as far as chips go heres a couple

Well I got a matrix infinity green dot, and some taiyo yuden tyg02 discs.
Installed the chip earlier (and it ain't a fake cos the firmware update worked without any problems) and the backups on the yudens are running great.
The backups are loading very fast, and no skips anywhere, i would definitely recommend these discs.
