Modchip enabled?

Ok, i'm having nothing but trouble installing my mod chip. Its a chipmod and i fully understand that they aren't the best chip to go with. But its the one i chose. Anyways, Is there any kind of indication that the mod chip (any kind) is enabled? I mean, i have my chip installed, and the solder points look fine, and so far the ps2 runs like its stock.. There is no difference from when it had no mod chip. Thanks for any info ahead of time.
