modbo750 question –
10-02-2006,11:18 AM
Hi I've recently installed a modbo 750 in my NTSC v4 ps2.
The first time I booted it up I got the Matrix logo, and it worked with a backup dvd ps2 game. Now after I reset it I kept getting black screens, but I hear the disc still reading and I don't see any Matrix logos. So I tried to disable the chip. I pressed start and it showed the Disable screen. So I reset and it goes to the ps2 startup screen without the matrix logo, but of course it won't read the backup now. So now I turn off my ps2 and try to start it up again since after the chip has been disabled, it needs to be turned to standby mode first to enable it again. But now the problem is that I keep on getting the ps2 startup screen as if the chip wasn't there. After resetting again and again, I either just get this ps2 startup screen or the Black screen.
I tried turning off the ps2 and go into the config by pressing triangle and circle and it works (sometimes). Then if I reset I get the Matrix logo and backups work again. What could this problem be and how can I fix it?
I also hear this loud rattling sound in my dvd disc tray when I eject or start the system using eject.
Any help on these two issues would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

just to let you no the modbo 750 is a clone of a clone. the proper modbos are 760 745 530 and 520
ps: open it up and check for shorts or loose wires

ok, an update to the problem.
I've tested it more tonight and it seemed to work more often now. So the problem is that sometimes when I reset I get a flicker and then a black screen and then if I reset again, I get the ps2 start up as if no modchip is installed. So if I go to standby and hold triangle and circle, it works again and goes into the configuration mode. The black screen with the flicker occurs quite frequently.
I've also noticed that when I tried to put the cover on with the screws in, I get no video, but if I loosen up the cover, it works again. I'm thinking this has to do with the reset/power button cable(the silver one). How do I fix this?
With the laser sound, I noticed that it only happens if I press eject, let the tray stay open, and then press reset, then it makes this gun popping clicking noise and then the tray goes back in. What could this be?
And I noticed a lot of static sound for audio. It's really annoying. How do I fix this?
Thanks

not exact clone of 745, modbo750 has an extra wire 'cy' for clock, i feel it's more stable than 745. installed hundreds of 750 never have any problem so far.

Interesting, where can I get these and do they also have problems on v4 ps2s like the 745 series or are they stable across all the versions

do not use modbo745, 750, 4.0 for v3 /v4 but they are ok for the rest of the models of PS2. these chips are everywhere if you search google
