    just came back from a respected installer in australia today with my ps2 slim modded using an "infinity".

    I was wondering is there anyway of distinguising between these two, apart from a) trying to upgrade the firmware
    or
    b) trying to save settings
    because i really dont want to have to deal with a dead chip.

    Some info: when i boot up a game, it says under the Playstation sign "Infinity 1.38"

    Even a clone chip will say infinity 1.38 etc under logo, I think the only real way to tell is to open it

    i was told its a "genuine" MI
    but when i asked him if the chip were flash upgradable and whether the settings can be changed and saved on the chip, they just replied by saying (in a defensive tone) why i would want to those such things.

    so i came to the conclusion that if they aren't confident in answering those questions then they must be using clones.

    If you wont open it you have 2 choices;
    1)If you trust them, upgrade it and hope for the best
    2)If you dont leave well alone
    Tired, so very tired
