I have a slim PS2 that I bought premodded earlier this year. It has a Modbo 4.0 installed.
I haven't used it in a few months, but I just turned it on today. I get a blank black screen when I boot the PS2. If I hit the reset button, then I get the regular PS2 boot screen and can't load any import games. It does work with regular US PS2 games, though. I never see the Matrix screen and no matter what buttons I press nothing happens.
I never messed around with the configuration, it's just that after a few months of not using it, it won't work anymore.
Is the chip just dead? I read somewhere that many clone chips are made from the cheapest materials possible and die easily. Is this the case with the Modbo 4.0?
The person I got it from has offered to fix it for free, and he said he's never heard of this problem before...I'd have to pay shipping though, so before I invest in that I'm wondering if instead I should get someone else to install a better quality chip. Could I possibly have this problem again?
Not sure if this could be the issue but I'm using a US PS2 in Japan.
