Modbo 4.0 into V7 –
07-15-2008,04:04 AM
I have been trying to fit a Modbo 4.0 into a 39003 v7/v8 without much luck..
I installed lots of chips in the early days on the ps2 so dont consider myself a total newb
The problem I am having is once the chip was installed, the ps2 would boot past the matrix stuff and the disk drive would just click and the LA666FM chip got quite hot! Nothing booted.
Everytime the PS2 was switched on I had to re-do the language and time/timezone settings..
I tried a different combinations of the G,H,I wires without much luck, a lot of pictures I looked at showed only I, or only H etc...
At the moment, I removed all wires except for the bios, power, clock (CX), reset & boot ps1 (SX). Bios works fine in this state but I am unable to boot PS1 with just the above connected (I am unsure if the modbo will boot psx1 backup like the older messiah chips used too with just SX connected) ? .... PS2 (orig) games boot fine with the above.
The wires not connected atm are:
Y, B, G, H, I , A & reset
Can anyone shed some light on this please ?

OK, scrap that cry for help
Resoldered the wire's I took off yesterday and reconnected using I & G and all is working.
I am still unsure as to what the problem was, I think* I might have mixed up the Y & B points, I will never know
Thx to all those that looked in the thread....

i have oanoter problem and cant find it.
placed a modbo 750 into a V3.
Booting noting, butt i a hit the reset button i get the 'normal ps2" boot.
there i can play original games.
if i use swap magic, you can just swap a dvd hitting the eject button (normal with hook) and can boot a game,
anyone know what im doing wrong ?
checke the wires at least 5 times, butt still no luck.

The V3 is getting old now so from my experience the problem could be your laser.Try to set the dvd-pot at a lower ohm but never lower than 100-200 from the org.value.If thats help then your laser is weak. But you can always play for a little while.Cause a "china shit refurbished"is just as good as throwing your money to the wife. And a new slimline Ps2 does not cost over 100Euros
