I've installed my modbo 4 now. It only took me like, 6 hours or so (^_^; ) (I'm a beginner at soldering) but at least I got it working.

It's not a bad chip I guess, but to my GREAT disappointment there are still some ps1 games that cannot be played...
After installing the chip, I really wanted to play some classic survival horror games, so I took out my japanese Dino Crysis which I haven't played for ages now.
As you already guessed, this game of course had some kind of anti-mod protection. After the warning sign "this game contains violence etc..." a big red circle apperared on screen telling me that this game was not meant to be played on my machine or something.

This really pissed me off, because when you read the info on modbo 4 it says "allows you to play ALL games" and "supports anti-mod games" which clearly is a lie.

I don't know what to do... I've tried to download patches for my game, but just I can't anything to work!
Can anyone please tell me a chip that will play ALL games, including the protected ones? I just want to be able to play my imports... any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, I'm about to install a modbo chip, I thought they were supposedly using the matrix infinity bios (or something called toxic). I also thought the modbo 4.0 was considered a good chip. I just wonder if you're using a chip with a 1.88 or later bios? I think only the 1.99 bios chips & later are flash-able. Which would mean it could be updated to deal with new protection...

The dino crisis game protection can be bypassed with a gameshark code.
Those codes were made in order to boot the game with gameshark cheat devices since the game sees the cheat device as a modchip in those days.
Try booting the game with a gameshark cd and have the enable codes ON.

Maybe you get lucky with this method

Dino Crisis Jp Anti Mod GameShark Codes:

    D014957E 1040
    8014957E 1000
    D0149004 959C
    80149004 9E64
    D01495F4 2021
    801495F0 FFF6
    D01495F4 2021
    801495F2 1000

If that fails to work, there are two protection fixes here:
    http://www.megagames.com/console/cgi...e=d_crisis!xps
    and
    http://www.megagames.com/console/cgi...e=pdx-dccp!zip

Try the GameShark codes first as that would be the easiest to do.

My Modbo 3.0 with v1.82 firmware plays everything, including Dino Crisis 1/2 and DDR.

Make sure you have soldered the wire at the reset button properly. If this wire is NOT connected, the modchip doesn't turn off after booting a game. Some people DON'T connect this wire because if its connected you cannot change discs in homebrew like SMS Player etc, only the first disc thats present at boot time will detect due to the modchip shutting off after booting.

Read the product destcriptions carefully before posting idiotic questions to this forum. It clearly says that "YOU CAN PLAY PSX ANTI-MOD GAMES ONLY IF YOU HAVE PS2 V9 - V13."
