    Hi everyone,

I recently got 2 ps2s modded a v15 and a v16. After testing it with a ps1 game, i noticed that it doesnt work 100% most of the time. sometimes i need to reboot the ps2 2 times for it to boot the game up but for ps2 games works 100% of the times. Is it just me or is it happening to other people as well? checked the infinity bios and pretty much all the selections are set to yes.

Yes, this is normal. I have a total of 4 slim PStwo's (v12, v14, 2v16's) all modded with Matrix Infinity clones (the v12 has Modbo 4.0 1.99). The issue only seems to exist when booting PS1 games and the symptoms are as you described.

Here is a more detailed account of what happens on my systems when booting PS1 games: *Note that I have clear cases installed (with ghost switches) on all of my PStwo's which make it easy to see what is happening with the disc.

*On a successful PS1 game boot - the disc spins at an average speed until a couple seconds after the fullscreen Playstation logo/audio comes on, then the disc nearly stops for a split second and then begins spinning quickly - immediately followed by the game starting up.

*On an unsuccessful PS1 game boot - the disc spins at an average speed until a couple seconds after the fullscreen Playstation logo/audio come on, then the disc completely stops, the screen goes black and then hangs.

Usually if a disc is unsuccessful in booting it only takes a single reset and then it loads right up, but I do know however that I have had instances where the PStwo required consecutive reboots (as many as 3 or more!) before the PS1 game boots.

I used to think that it could have something to do with a cold solder joint/bad connection but after modding several PStwos and witnessing exactly the same problem on each console I have begun to accept that this is just the way it is.

Also worth mentioning is that even an original Playstation (or PSone) with a MM3 modchip installed will fail to boot a disc from time to time. It may just be an imperfection in the method/timing of the code injection being performed by the modchip, which in that case, would be an imperfection that goes all the way back to the original Playstation modchips.

    Yes, Player1's tipp might work.

O is forcing the 'disc-type'-detection to PS1-Disc, instead of auto-detection.
