I've got two units. One's an older model with a laser eye issue that I mostly use HDLoader on anymore, and the other is a newer model (Vx) that came in the box with the network adaptor I'm using with my older PS2.

I'm thinking about sending one of the two in to get it modded. If I send the old one in, I'm going to send it to a place that'll diagnose and repair the laser eye as well, obviously.

Here are the big questions I have-- what places are available within the US where I could purchase and have a professional install done? Secondly, what chip would everyone reccomend? At one point I was thinking ***3, and I'm still looking at the ***4, but there are apparent "scene objections" to how the *** devs do things. What do you people suggest? If you're going to say "not the x" with X being any given chip, please explain why you're against that choice-- I can't make a good decision without facts, and I've been doing the MC exploit so long I haven't kept up on anything since the Messiah was put out!

Oh, and bonus points if you can find a place within Georgia or the southeast US that'll do the professional install plus sell me the chip. I'm not really thrilled with the idea of sending it halfway across the country..

I would go with Matrix Infinity or Crystal chip. They are both great chips.

I'm in the US, so PAL-only stuff is dead out.
