mod chip

Hello evey one

I just bought a slim PS2 V12 for my nephew and wanted to mod for him. I am good at soldering and skill in electronic, could some one guide me which chip should work best with the slim V12.

I just want to mod so he can play back up games

there's a bunch of chips out there - but you'd be safe with a MI or DMS. Are you good at fine soldering work - esp. soldering to via's, otherwise I wouldnt attempt it.

go with swap magic disks with no soldering...

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I am good at soldering. I used to upgrage Palm V from 2Mb to 8Mb 10 year ago, so those fine pitch IC's shouldn't be an isssue. I have printed the instruction from other website for remove & install PS2 slim console, hope that would help

Now it's time to look for the right chip, do I need to install the laser fix circuit too even if I have V12 ?

Yes you sure do . If you have a v12 you must include a laser fix in the installation of your chip . H20- v3 is a good chip . Worth checking out .
