Depends on what version PS2 you have?
Also depends what you want out of the chip?
For the most features - as long as you think you will actually use them - go the DMS3
For just reliable game booting on a V1- V8 go:
DUO
Apple Pro
Messiah2 V1.30
Magic V
For ease of install On a V1-V8 go:
DUO - 17 wires
Apple Pro 22 wires
For Price Go Apple Pro
Then DUO
For V9's:
Blue X-5 or Smartchip pro X5
DMS3 V9
Magic V 50K
Messiah2 V1.33b
MARS (5?)
sorry pc was down i have a 39001 not sure if that helps
39001=V7, I would recommend a DMS3 chip, they are expensive, but good stable chips
if this will be your first time with a soldering iron I recommend heavily practicing, or better yet sending it to a qualified installer, I usually go with Premods

what about messiah is that any good
If you dont need the extra features of the DMS I recommend the DUO or Apple Pro over the Messiah2 as they are more reliable and by far cheaper.
ShadowKnyght
is the duo chip as releable as the dms/ms2pro or more like the magic 3.1?
I'm not ShadowKnyght but I can tell ya it is right there with the DMS3 and M2. Plus it is much cheaper and only a 17 wire install.
duo is a good chip...too bad the v4 machines and duo compatibility don't work as well compared to messiah and dms. Anyhow, I recommend the dms...need the features or not, you will still have the upgrade ability for future use.
