First, where abouts are you? Curious how you got your hands on a v8.
Second, where did you get the impression that the Infinity does not support v8? My understanding is that it absolutely does so.
I have a v8 with MI fitted, could not be happier

I am HK.HK version 39006 seems v8.Originally Posted by mikearama

as far as some posts here go, the MI is NOT compatbile with true v8 consoles. There was alot of debate to the exact v8 ID process but there really isnt a clear cut way to identify these consoles. They were mixed around many times with v7 units of their time. Baiscally the incompatible chips could not play back-ups on dvdr. Only pressed silvers and originals. Search these forums. Someone from what i can remember, installed an MI into one and it did not play back dvdr. He then installed a crystal chip and it worked.
Well the "v8" I have is Japanese with a GH-022 BIOS 090 board (If this is not a true v8, can anyone tell me what it is?) It has had a MI in from new and has never had any problems with any disks, except some of the recent dual layer DVD+R9

Maybe it fixed in new ic but not the old one...
Sorry for my poor english
