Messiah2 V5 Problem –
Help! Something is very wrong with a v5 ps2 i've tried to mod with a messiah2. With or without the chip it goes to red screen. I thought it may have been the controller points, but they all look clean and good. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before?
I just put the chip back in (but didn't connect it to power) and tried an orginal dvd game. I think it finds groove but can't load the disc. Also, when the unit is powered on it takes a while for the eject light to come on and the boot sequence to begin... I'm stumped!
Sounds like your original install hosed up a connection. I would check and recheck each connection point and it's neighbor for solder bridges, balls, burned components, etc. Get it back to original operation with originals before attacking the mod again.
Ok, I have removed the chip and cleaned all the points. Now the drive just seems to try to read the disc forever. The laser doesn't click or drop so I assume it can find groove, but ... ok here's what happens...
1. Disc spins up and makes that funny little noise (as normal)
2. Laser seems to try reading the disc again (no clicking, but some noise)
3. Repeats step 2 another 5 times
4. Disc stops
5. Repeats from step 1 approxiamtely 3 more times then sops completely.
6. PS2 remains on browser screen
WTF!?!?!.... Please help!

It surely has to be something like that.
How many legs of the bios chip should be grounded? I have 3 here.
Search the forum for a post I did on the BIOS pins. Probably in the FAQ.
